Northgate Takeover: Citadel Week at The Chicken

It’s that time of year again: Northgate tailgate weekend! For The Citadel game on Saturday, Oct. 17, we’re trading the tents and grills on West Campus for our one Northgate tailgate of the season.
Even better, the weather is cooperating. Football weather has finally arrived in Aggieland, and the forecast for Saturday is looking awesome, perfect for a morning in Northgate.
The Plan
- Where: The Dixie Chicken (“The Chicken”) in Northgate
- Meet up: 8:00 AM. Get there early to grab a table.
- Kickoff: Noon at Kyle Field (SEC Network+ / ESPN+)
No tents, no grills, no full spread this time. Just good company, cold drinks from The Chicken, and a few hours of Aggie fellowship before we head over to Kyle Field.
From The Chicken we have a habit of wandering, so if we move, we’ll post where we are on X at @DeadMBATailgate. Follow along and you’ll always know where to find us.
After the final whistle, we’ll head back to Northgate to catch the rest of the day’s games. Where we land depends on who has room for us, so check X for our spot.
Getting Into Town Friday?
Make a weekend of it and cheer on more Aggies on Friday, Oct. 16:
- Aggie Volleyball vs. Florida at Reed Arena. Check 12thMan.com for the start time.
- Aggie Baseball vs. McNeese, a fall exhibition at 7 p.m. at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. Admission is free!
Then rest up, because we’ll see you at The Chicken at 8 on Saturday morning.
Get Your Raffle Tickets
We’ll have raffle tickets with us at The Chicken. Take your shot at a Texas A&M mini helmet signed by 21 Aggies: $20 for one entry or $100 for six. Tickets are sold in person only, so this is a great chance to grab yours. The winner is drawn at our final tailgate of the season.
Still About the Scholarship
Even without a spread, Northgate weekend is still about supporting the Dead MBA Scholarship Fund. If you enjoy the morning, please chip in. Every dollar helps us keep supporting Aggie students, and it’s a great time to become a member if you haven’t yet.
Looking Ahead
Tennessee comes to Kyle Field on Nov. 14, and we’ll be back at our usual spot on West Campus with the full setup. Then comes the big one: the t.u. game on Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. That’s where we compete for H-E-B’s Tailgater of the Year and draw the winner of our helmet raffle, a mini helmet signed by 21 Aggies. Plan your Thanksgiving weekend around Kyle Field now.
See y’all at The Chicken at 8. BTHO The Citadel! Gig ’em!
